When can I register for spring classes 2024 CCNY? ›

Classes in the first semester usually begins in August and lasts until the end of December, including exams. The second semester runs from January/February to may-June. Winter vacation lasts 2-3 weeks, summer 10-12 weeks. Usually during the semester students study 3-5 subjects in accordance with their schedule.

It is the policy of the University not to cancel classes on religious holidays. However, students should exercise their own judgment as to attendance in accordance with the dictates of specific school or program policies and requirements governing class attendance.

The academic calendar is composed of two semesters. Fall semester starts in late August (with first-year students arriving a week early for placement tests and adjustment to campus life) and ends in mid-December after final exams. Spring semester starts at the end of January and finishes in mid-May after final exams.

Registration for the Spring 2023 semester begins on December 1, 2022. Class seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis and we strongly recommend that you register on-time for the widest availability of classes for the semester. Remember, don't wait, first-come first-served, register for classes on time.

Application Filing Period

October 1 – November 30 for undergraduate students.

Pre-Registration for the Spring 2024 semester begins on Monday, November 6th at 9:00 am and continues through Thursday, November 16th. Registration continues online Monday, November 6th through the Spring add/drop period.

MIT operates on a 4–1–4 academic calendar with the fall semester beginning after Labor Day and ending in mid-December, a 4-week "Independent Activities Period" in the month of January, and the spring semester commencing in early February and ceasing in late May.
