The concept for this co*cktail came to me in a flash of brilliance (or desperation?) around 5 o’clock last Friday. I’m sure it has been done before, but it’s delightfully simple and postworthy nonetheless.
I must warn you that this drink is dangerously delicious; I took a sip, snapped some photos, and slurped it right down. Cheers!

Summery co*cktail made with strawberries, basil, vodka, club soda and a drizzle of honey. Cheers!
Scale
Ingredients
Per co*cktail
- 5 ripe strawberries, leafy ends removed
- 5 fresh basil leaves
- 1 medium lemon, juiced (plus more for garnish)
- Drizzle honey
- 1 ½ ounces vodka
- Club soda
Instructions
- In a mixing glass, thoroughly muddle strawberries with the basil.
- Squeeze in the juice of one lemon and a drizzle of honey.
- Stir in the vodka.
- Fill a collins glass with ice and pour your mixture into the glass. Top it off with club soda.
- Mix by pouring the drink back into your mixing glass, then back into your drinking glass. Garnish with lemon round and a strawberry.
Notes
Strained option: If you aren’t down with chunks of smashed strawberry floating in your drink, just pour the mixture through a strainer, into a glass filled with ice.

This is the second post in my new summer co*cktails series. Don’t miss my first co*cktail, the beautiful red bell, which is made with red bell pepper, basil, and gin!

It is amazing, and you can use the basil on your back porch to make it! I’ve been drinking the cheap wine we bought together. Yummm.

Gorgeous girl you are on fire! I’m sorry if you literally are right now in summer heat (join Cookie by the fan), but I mean on here, your blog. Your photography and your recipes are just awesome. I will be trying this co*cktail come spring here in Australia. Thanks for visiting my blog again too. I loved your tweets about flirting with the patagonia guy! Hilarious! And I love any Cookie sightings! Have a wonderful weekend.

Do you think I could make a punch with this ?? Any suggestions on the amounts???
Reply
Kate
Sorry for the slow response, Cynthia! This may not be the best punch candidate since club soda loses its fizz over time and the strawberry chunks will sink to the bottom.

This recipe is legit! A friend of mine sent me the recipe and I made a few last week. Really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing!

Honestly, the basil did nothing for this drink. I thought about pouring it out, but I didn’t want to waste good vodka. I added some agave and that made it palatable. Leave out the basil and it’s be similar to a strawberry lemonade.

It was a very original idea. I did enjoy it more without the basil, it was very light. I have enjoyed many of your other recipes, thank you.
