What tyres are we using in 2024 in the UK?

I have realized my Z4MC isn't going to pass its MOT with the rear tyres in the state they are in. I have previously used Yokohama AD08/AD08R/AD08RS trackday tyres but I'm not using the car on the track any more and thinking of going for something performance-oriented but is better in the winter/wet.
Any thoughts?

Conti SC7, GY Assy 6, MP4S..in that order…
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Michelin MP5S (or Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 as they're now known) are out, but only available in a few sizes at the moment...and still waiting for side-by-side reviews of that vs the others mentioned.

Not forgetting that there's also the more road-focused Pilot Sport 5 (no 'S'), but that's not even as good as the PS4S anyway.
Trigger’s Z4MC
Some bits now over 163,000 miles, some less than 1,000 miles.

Unless you’re running 19” symmetrical 225/40 wheels looks like that’s not a viable solution..

When i asked a similar question a month or two back the consensus was Conti 7s were the best but awful wear.

conti 7s for me as they beat the MPS 4S on every test except wear.
But that does not bother me as only do about 2000 miles a year and changed the 4s not because they had worn out but they where getting old.

This chap empathised wet weather and winter…for a summer tyre the SC7 is best in those conditions ..

I have Kumho Ecstas on my M and I've been pleased with them but I'll be needing new rears fairly soon, so I'll probably try the Contis based on the above.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 for me, you really can't go wrong with any of the above suggestions, excepting the Michelin PSS which are crap in the cold and wet conditions.

Despite being told Yokohama UK were out of stock I've managed to order a pair of AD09.
I've not been impressed with Michelin on several other cars in the past and a full set would have cost more than a pair of AD09.

Thought you said you didn’t want a track tyre, and they don’t look to be any cheaper than a Michelin UHP road tyre

His argument is that two new Yokohama are cheaper than 4 Michelins….
Quite why we had the debate about more appropriate tyres
