White Hot Chocolate Mix is a must-have for all your holiday events! You only need 4 ingredients, and the result is pure heaven. A cup of this hot chocolate gives you lots of creaminess and the perfect amount of peppermint flavor. Plus, it also happens to be keto, low carb, gluten-free, and grain-free too.
I’m not sure what it is about a warm cup of hot chocolate that is so comforting, but we can never get enough. I know there are lots of people that love to warm up to a hot cup of coffee, but at our house in the evenings, we prefer hot chocolate.
It’s something that we all enjoy, and it just gets us in the mood for Christmas and other cold-weather activities. Plus, comparing homemade hot chocolate mix to the store-bought packaged stuff I used to drink, homemade wins every time. It has a much creamier and delicious flavor, and it’s just as easy.
Free Guide! Feed a Family on a Low Carb Diet
In this free 5-day email series learn all my tips for incorporating a low-carb lifestyle into the life of your family.
I recommend making a batch or two and having it on hand, so you always have it ready to drink. Then you can snuggle with a blanket and a big mug of homemade white hot chocolate and forget about your troubles for a little bit.
What You’ll Need
- Sweetener - I use my blend of xylitol, erythritol, and stevia but you can use any sweetener to taste.
- Heavy Cream Powder - This is my secret ingredient for an instant low carb hot chocolate.
- Sugar-Free White Chocolate Chips - I used ChocZero white chocolate chips.
- Peppermint Extract - You can leave it out if you’d rather, but the peppermint flavor is great paired with white chocolate. Alternatively, you can add vanilla extract, almond extract, or even a flavoring oil such as orange or raspberry.
How To Make White Hot Chocolate Mix
This is one of the easiest recipes ever, and I know you won’t be disappointed when you take that first comforting sip. Let’s take a peek at the steps:
Step One: Add the peppermint extract to the sweetener and stir well. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes to dry. If you aren’t adding peppermint, you can skip this step.
Step Two: Combine the sweetener, heavy cream powder, and white chocolate chips together and mix. Place it in an airtight container until ready to serve.
To Serve: Put one-two heaping spoonfuls of the mixture in a mug. Add 6 ounces of hot milk or water. We like almond milk or coconut milk, but any low-carb milk option will work well.
Can I Add This White Hot Chocolate Mix To Coffee?
Yep! If you love fancy coffee drinks, you will greatly enjoy adding this white hot chocolate mix to coffee. Basically, you will have a homemade Caffe White Mocha, and it’s incredible. If you are putting out a hot cocoa bar, adding some coffee to it is a fun way for coffee lovers to enjoy the hot chocolate too.
How Do I Warm Milk?
Heating almond milk, coconut milk, or whatever else you make with your hot chocolate is pretty simple. The key here is making sure you don’t heat it too quickly or too fast. Low heat is ideal and will give you the best result. The milk doesn’t need to be boiling for the white hot chocolate. You only need to heat it until it’s hot, and that will be good. You can either heat it up in the microwave or on the stovetop. If you choose the stovetop, you will need to stir it frequently, so it doesn’t burn and stick to the pan. For the microwave, simply heat it for 30 seconds at a time and check it. Be sure to stir. Once hot, it’s ready to serve with this white hot chocolate mix.
Can I Use Different Chocolate Besides White?
Of course! This is a kicked-up version of my Sugar-Free Hot Chocolate Mix which uses cocoa powder. As long as it’s sugar-free chocolate, you should be fine. Dark or semi-sweet both go well with the flavor of the peppermint, and you’ll end up with great hot cocoa either way. You can actually make up a variety of flavors and store them in separate containers. Then you will have them ready when you are in the mood.
Does Hot Chocolate Make A Good Gift Idea?
Absolutely! You can add the mixture to a cute little glass jar or give it as a gift in my Keto Hot Chocolate Bombs or White Hot Chocolate Bombs. People love getting gifts from the heart, and nothing is more thoughtful than homemade hot chocolate. Plus, it won’t break the bank either, so it’s a frugal gift idea as well.
